CaIoT Device Contributor Agreement
Terms for people who voluntarily contribute devices to CaIoT.
Effective Date: November 27, 2023
Last Updated: July 6, 2026
Version: 2.0
1. Scope
This Device Contributor Agreement applies when you connect, register, list, contribute, host, or make a device available through the CaIoT Platform. It is incorporated into the Terms of Service.
2. Voluntary Participation
Participation is voluntary. You decide whether to contribute eligible devices and when to make them available, subject to active sessions, platform policies, and technical requirements.
3. Ownership and Responsibility
You retain ownership of your device. CaIoT does not acquire ownership by allowing the device on the Platform. You are responsible for the device, power, internet, maintenance, lawful possession, security, insurance, taxes, and local compliance unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
4. No Employment Relationship
You are not an employee, contractor, agent, partner, franchisee, representative, or joint venturer of CaIoT. No wages, employment benefits, worker protections, or agency authority are created by this Agreement.
5. Device Preparation
Before making a device available, you must remove personal data, remove personal accounts, disable unnecessary personal services, remove private content, use appropriate device settings, and follow CaIoT setup instructions. You should factory reset devices where appropriate. CaIoT is not responsible for personal data left on contributed devices.
6. Earnings and Payouts
If contributor earnings are offered, payouts may be reduced by CaIoT fees, payment processor fees, taxes, refunds, chargebacks, fraud adjustments, penalties, or other deductions. CaIoT may withhold payouts for suspected fraud, disputes, compliance issues, or policy violations.
7. Taxes
You are solely responsible for determining, reporting, and paying taxes related to contributor earnings or device participation.
8. Suspension and Removal
CaIoT may suspend, disconnect, quarantine, or remove any device for security, quality, compliance, payment, support, operational, legal, or policy reasons.
9. Risk Allocation
You acknowledge that making a device remotely accessible may involve risks, including device wear, configuration changes, software issues, connectivity problems, or misuse by others. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CaIoT is not liable for device damage, lost data, lost revenue, or indirect losses.
